Our Engagement....           December 10, 2004

Bill's Letter:

     Dear Friends & Family,

We are so excited to announce our engagement! So much has happened since our courtship began last May. I returned from Chicago in August just in time to experience four hurricanes. What a welcome home! As a result of all the winds and debris, God provided an opportunity for me to help out a friend with his landscaping business. He was falling behind because of all the extra work from the hurricanes & I offered to help him out a couple days a week. We worked well together and that led to a job offer. So for the time being, I’m working for TruTrim Inc. with my boss, Thomas Miller.

On December 9, 2004 I invited Tiffany, Mary (Tiff's Mom) and Tammy (My Mom) out to dinner and a movie for Mary’s birthday. Little did they know that I had much bigger plans for that evening! We went to see “National Treasure” at the Hollywood 20 theater downtown. It was excellent! (If you missed it in the theaters, get it on DVD!) After the show, we all went to The Melting Pot fondue restaurant. Ooooh man, that chocolate fondue was good!

After dinner we went out to the waterfront at Marina Jack for a walk. A cold front came in that week & it was a new moon that night so it was dark with the wind blowing cold. If I was really good, I would have planned this on a night when the moon was full, but nobody’s perfect… so anyway, I presented Tiffany with a single red rose as we started walking out to the jetty. The fountains were beautiful as they changed color against the starry sky. Tiffany and I sat on the bench to talk. I reached into my bag of goodies & gave her a special figurine. It was the Willow Tree Collection figurine of a girl holding a single red rose- just like the rose I gave her. (“Awwwws” are appropriate here) As we sat there she started shivering from the wind blowing sharply off the water. I thought to myself, “I’d better do it soon or she’ll freeze!” so I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me.

As I placed the ring on her finger. “Tiffany Ann Behrens, will you marry me?” I said. She said a quick “Sure.” (What else did you think she’d have said?! She already knew the answer!) She later told me that she was not expecting me to propose that night, but she was glad I did! We took quite a few pictures, which are viewable in the photo gallery.

Since then, time has flown by! Tiffany was accepted into the EXCEL program in Dallas. It is an eight week program from January 24- March 19. So we did as much planning and preparation as we could before she left. The separation is not easy, but she is excited about what the Lord has to teach her while she's there. The wedding will be held on April 12, 2005 at beautiful Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida. It is exciting to see the details coming together as we prepare to begin our lives as one.

A neat angle of my beautful ring! -- see our photo gallery for more pix of our special night!
...yes folks, it is 100% real!!
::Big Grin::

On a magical night, under a sky full of twinkling stars,
and with the beauty of our beloved Sarasota Bay all around us,
a very special man got down on one knee and asked me to become his wife!
So now on this night, December 9, 2004,
I wear a beautiful ring as a symbol of love and promise
from a man that is not only my best friend, but the one I have come to love so dearly!

of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in
him and he shall bring it to pass." (Psalm 37:4-5)

Our Courtship....            April '04- Dec. '04

Bill's Post:.

Date: Friday, April 30, 2004
Time: 6:17pm
Place: Boeing 737- apx. 37,000 ft. above the US

Ok, it’s official. My mom & dad said YES! I’m heading home for Tiffany’s birthday & she has no idea I’m on my way! Tomorrow my mom is planning on taking Tiffany out for breakfast. When Tiffany answers the door I’m going to be standing there & I can only imagine the expression on her face at that moment! Wow.

Let me go back to Saturday, April 24. My mom & dad took Tiffany out for dinner for her birthday & for “questions”. I was sooo shocked that they asked her. I was hoping & praying that God would work this out. I called my mom on Sunday night to ask “how” it went. I got her on the cell phone on the way home from church. “Well, it was her first time eating calamari” my mom said. “I didn’t call to hear about the food! How was the talk?” I said. I have to stop here & mention that my mom was acting very different; I’ve never known her to act like the way she was just then. She says “Well, what do you mean?” Hesitantly I asked “You know, like, did she, well, ‘pass’?” She laughed & turned to my dad & asked “He wants to know if she ‘passed’?” My dad gives one of those thoughtful “Ummm” and 6 seconds later says “Yeah”. I think I fell on the floor but can’t remember ‘cause I nearly floated off my bed. After we hung up I yelled “YES!” out loud. I’m glad no one was home :-)

     Tiph's Post
(as seen on her blog):
           May 4, 2004 -

Wow! What a weekend!!!
The Lord truly is Great and is greatly to be praised!!!
I had an absolutely outstanding birthday weekend, that
(much to my joy & surprise) far surpassed any other!

So, why was it so wonderful, you ask?
Well... after a long time of prayer, waiting on the Lord, and a
surprise trip home (to be with me on my b-day, and to confirm it)...
I am now officially courting Bill Chatzistamatis!!! (Yea!!!)
This is a major answer to our prayers, and we are both VERY excited!

We're Courting!!!

      The Announcement:
            May 5, 2004 -

To some of you this may come as a surprise, and to others, a confirmation of something
you have suspected/ known for years. (I do believe some of you knew before we did… hee, hee)...
We are elated to announce that through the direction of the Lord & with the blessing of our parents...

We, Bill Chatzistamatis and Tiffany Ann Behrens, are officially courting!

What does this mean? Well, in our families, courtship is a preparation for marriage.
Meaning that, with the help of our parents, we are working toward the day
when we will joyfully begin our lives as one.

We hope you rejoice with us in our great joy & happiness, as we give God the praise
and glory for leading us together; and ask that you please pray for us and our families
as we seek Him and purpose to minister to those around us, in and through our courtship.

In Christ,
    Bill and Tiffany

Our First Meeting....           August 23, 1996

Bill's Quib....
(Short, sweet and to the point...)

The first time I met Tiffany....

It was a couple weeks after I turned 13. She was 12, and could hardly believe that I was older than her... Let’s just say that we didn’t hit it off so well.

It was a rainy August day in ’96 (the exact date still slips my mind even though I’ve asked Tiff many times) at a homeschool picnic at the beach. It was still overcast & gray outside & there was hardly anyone on the beach (or even at the picnic for that matter), so things were a little slow. I think there was only one other family there with like one or two other kids so it was really just Tiff, her younger sisters, her friend, David & I.

I remember trying to splash Tiffany with the water in the puddles in the sand & her getting mad at me. Hmm, I wonder why I was even doing that? Oh well, I did & that’s kind of how things started. I remember they started chasing me (I really don’t know why) & I ran off down to the playground just a little bit away hoping they would come too, but they didn’t. I thought I was soooo cool ‘cause I got away from the girls! Ha ha! But after 3 minutes, I got kind of lonely, so I walked back.

I don’t remember much about her personality or temperament (other than that it appeared she didn’t like me), but I would have never thought that this irritating person would be the one that I would want so dearly to spend the rest of my life with!

Bill + Tiph = Luv 4ever!!

Tiph's Chronicle....
(a bit more lengthy, but much more detail)

“It was a dark and stormy night…”
(Hee, hee…)

It all started on a dreary, rainy day in August...
The date was August 23, 1996, making me twelve years old, and Bill just a few days into thirteen.

My family was invited to a “Getting to know you” BBQ, out at the beach, with some other families from our homeschool support group. Due to it raining all day, it wasn’t really beach weather.... but, not to miss a party, we went ahead and went anyway.

There were three families there, besides ours -– The host family, the Chatzi’s, and one other family with two little girls. (I also had my best friend, Nora, with me).

Everything was really soggy, and there wasn’t much to do, so Nora and I decided to go for a walk. -- There was no one on the beach that night, the sun was just beginning to set, and there was a wonderful breeze coming over the water -- It was absolutely picturesque!

So we're walking along, talking, and just enjoying the evening...    when all of the sudden, out of nowhere... we were surprised by the feeling of cold, sandy water all over the back of us!
As the story turns out, Billy & his little brother (or shadow), David were bored, and decided to take advantage of all those extra large puddles that had formed on the beach during the day’s rain. Yuck!

So, In shock and disgust, I whirled around just in time to see him grinning from ear to ear,
preparing to run up and jump in again.

I was so irritated! -- I remember trying to run him off, only to have him come back, about five-minutes later, to annoy us again. -- At one point, I remember yelling at him, to try to get him to stop & go away. I even remember asking him his age, to try to find out how old this immuture jerk was, and then accused him of lying, as:

“He couldn’t POSSIBLY be older than me…
he wasn’t nearly as mature as I was....”

(I'm serious! I actually said that to him!... and shamedly many more like it --
LOL… Can you tell I was not impressed?! -- )

Anyway, I don’t remember much more about the evening.... Except that Nora and I avoided those boys like the plague! -- And, after the picnic, when mom asked us, “So girls, what do you think of Billy, the C’s son?”... I remember Nora and I, looked at each other, groaned, and in unison said: “No Comment!!!"

Now I look back and laugh, because had anyone told me then that this obnoxous young boy would someday become the one I would love so deeply and desire to grow old with...
I would have NEVER believed them…

Praise the Lord for a change in heart!
